Deep Focus

A Film Quarterly

Deep Focus - Film Quarterly was a collaborative initiative by enthusiasts of cinema from the Bangalore Film Society, supported by an advisory panel comprising eminent figures from the Indian film industry. Rooted in the ethos of CIEDS, a collective dedicated to exploring profound connections in politics, art, and culture, Deep Focus embodied a vision that delved into the deeper aspects of cinematic expression.

Deep Focus served as a film journal for individuals who viewed cinema as a powerful contemporary medium of expression. It catered to those who appreciated the intellectual significance and artistic value of film. The journal endeavored to dissect cinema as a blend of aesthetics and cultural politics. Through its essays, Deep Focus delved into how cinema influenced and was influenced by contemporary cultural practices, politics, and social behavior.
